• in the process of moving hosts, and ive set up an add-on domain at addon.mydomain.com with the new host. Ive imported my old databases, and changed the wp-config so that it looks to the new database. also imported all my plugins and themes to that subdomain so it should work as though it were mydomain.com.

only problem is that the site is displaying the default theme, and i cant change it.

my original site, at mydomain.com works fine still, i can log in and change stuff as normal. however, if i try to log in to addon.mydomain.com to change my theme, it takes me to the panel for mydomain.com.

what do i need to change?

    thanks in advance

  • WP never works well with addon things and redirects.

Regardless, if you followed the Moving WordPress instructions from the codex (which I doubt) then you’d know you have to change the site_url and home values in the options table at the new location.

always so full of confidence aren’t you rudy.
i had done that actually, but via the options page and not the mysql. anyway, its sorted, it was all an issue to do with the fact that my hosting hadn’t fully switched. now it has and there are no problems. but i didn’t think it should have mattered, if i could go to addon.mydomain.com, i couldn’t see why an admin at that address wouldn’t work. but there you go.

im with bluehost, and this is my second address with them, hoe can i get it so that it isnt an addon domain?

actually, i needed to leave those urls alone!
put them back to just mydomain.com and it all works absolutely even better than before
