  • I think Community Add-On events are not displayed in the Achievements Tab.

    This is my config.

    Achievement Type – Visits (1,5 and 10)
Communities – Create new forum topic and post new forum reply.

Visits were awarded and badge is displayed under Visits Tab.

I created same trigger (create new forum post, do it once for 5 pints) under Visits. Guess what, Awarded badge is not shown in Profile.

So, problem is with displaying Community Add-On Awards.

Well, one thing to keep in mind is that a “step” is not the same as a “achievement”, in terms of graphical badges and such.

So while yes at a functional level, you can earn and achieve the steps, and we use that to help track progress, it’s not the actual achievement where they’d get the graphical badge and have that also logged to their profile.

Just to be sure, I created a “Community Badge” and set it to be awarded after both an activity stream message AND an activity stream reply. Once I had both done, the badge showed up in my achievements tab, but the steps to reach it did not, and that’s something I think you’re looking at above.

Let me know if that clears up any confusion or if we need to discuss finer details a bit more.

For Communities type, I created single Step event (not list of steps) to award the badge for testing.

    1. Communities (community) Achievement Type
    2. Created a Badge to Publish a New Forum Topic (Award 5 points, 0 for no maximum and repeated 1 times, steps unchecked).

According to above logic, I was expecting to badge to be awarded for Creating New Forum Topic just like how user got a badge for completing 5 login’s entry.

My non-community add-on badges appear in user activity feed. (Community add-on ones don’t). I’ve worked around this for now – making a badge contingent upon earning another community activity badge – and displaying it.

My problem is that I have no achievements tab whatsoever. Visiting /achievements/ on a user results in a 404. Maybe I’m on to something realllly simple that I’m overlooking. ?? I verified that the achievements are set to appear in this mythical section. I’ve tried switching to default theme and that didn’t help. I’m nervous about disabling badgeos again, based on what happened last time.

    Looks like this is me:

When user has no achievements, they have the tab. When the user earns an achievement, they lose the tab. Frustrating and seemingly pretty big bug.

Workaround? Ideally, what I really need are small badge icons to show next to their name anytime they post – to build up social proof that badges are being earned by people in the places that people see their activity. I’ll pay a dev for this to get it done. Recommendations?

    Thanks.

ls41, as it turns out, the two forum steps are for when you have bbPress active as well. If you do not have bbPress, it won’t trigger a badge for that step. If you DO have bbPress as well and it’s still not, then we probably are looking at some sort of bug with that. However, I tested and it at least worked on my localhost. We probably should mention somewhere with the community plugin that some of the steps are for bbPress.

orlandowae I’m really curious what caused the white screen last time, because that should not happen when disabling any plugin, to be honest. Figuring out why it did for you would be something I’m very curious about.

The other part that is confusing me is the reversal of display. It’s a frustrating thing to try and debug when it’s working fine on localhosts but not elsewhere.

I know I’ve put in requests for some primary focus on this plugin to work out any lingering reported issues, but it may be a couple weeks before that officially happens. There are other ways than just the achievements tab, though that is a good place to, to show earned achievements including the widget.

The white screen happened to me once before. I’m uncertain of the steps but it only involved deactivating BadgeOS specific plugins. May have been I deactivated the main BadgeOS one first and not the others or all of them at once – I forget now. Just an FYI

Martin – that’s what I did. I kept the add-ons active as I disabled the main BadgeOS plugin. Restored files/folders which didn’t solve it. Restored db and that solved it.

Well, I could definitely see that being a potential for white screen. We’ve built the extensions to be reliant on the core badgeos plugin being active already.

Good to know the general steps taken, so we can try and come up with a graceful solution.

orlandowae and Martin, regarding the white screens, if either of you have the Leaderboard extension, then I can attest first hand that it’s probably the culprit. It’s a very curious case where it’s not properly deactivating when it should, like when it doesn’t meet requirements. That one is going to give me a gray hair or two….thousand.
