• The plugin works, but it is achingly slow. Waiting for the results can take up to one minute. Makes it practically unusable.

UPDATE April 26th, 2015: the plugins works like a charm now that it runs on the WPMU infrastructure and does not rely on the (apparently VERY slow) Yahoo servers anymore. Compressing single images takes just a second now for me, whereas I used to wait for a whole MINUTE before.

Right now, the plugin does strip IPTC metadata that I need on my site, which is why I’m not actively using it. Once that problem is resolved, I will reactivate it and adjust my rating and review.

  • I’d say not the plugins fault, as is dependent over the API ??

Which amounts to the same end result. It’s achingly slow. ??

    Hey @alexander,

That’s understandable, though this review would be for the plugin rather than their service itself. We’re keen on addressing such concerns though, the developers are working on a much enhanced version that will address everything in a much more accessible and convenient way. No ETA yet but we’ll have more on that soon and hope you’ll be willing to re-review with that. ??

    Cheers!

I’ll definitely have another look, no problem.

Re the “plugin vs service” review – from the user’s point of view, I can’t tell which is which. While I’m waiting for the service that the plugin uses, it’s as if my whole site hangs. A progress bar or some other status information that somehow tells me “yep, we’re still alive, and waiting for Yahoo!” would be helpful. ??

We’re now processing those images through our own servers, if you fancy giving it another go you should see some huge improvements to speed. The issue before was due to Yahoo’s service.

Hoping to win back some of those stars on your rating. ??

Hello Timothy, thanks for the heads up, I’ll give it another try!
