@valisemag Hi there! Thanks for reaching out with your topic. In our latest version of the plugin, we added a new blocks feature to display stories in more creative ways. With that, there is an exit feature that allows the user to return to the page (see example). Have you tried to embed your stories using one of the new layout styles in the Web Stories block? Would this exit feature work for you?

Thanks for commenting, but that doesn’t really address my question. I want to know why if someone ends up on one story from say, Discover, they go straight to the person’s website –?whereas on my story, they end up on a share screen that doesn’t help drive any traffic to my site at all. What is causing that different experience?

@valisemag Thanks for clarifying! We’re doing some testing and will get back to you soon.

@valisemag Thanks for your patience as we tested this. There are basically four different experiences that occur on the final slide of a Story, based upon the user’s device as well as where they came to the Story from:

    1. Via Discover on a mobile device
    2. Via Discover on a desktop device
    3. Via Story’s website on a mobile device
    4. Via Story’s website on a desktop device

On a desktop device, the final slide always acts the same, regardless of if a user came to the Story via the Story’s website or Discover: the final slide simply “sits,” with no sharing actions presented. The user can choose to click the replay button to start over.

On mobile devices, the final slide acts slightly differently depending on where the user came from. In all cases, tapping on the final slide brings up a modal at the bottom of the screen, though they look slightly different depending on if the user is viewing via Discover or via the Story’s website.

In both cases, however, clicking on the final slide even after this modal is open returns the user back to the start of the Story.

The only way that I know of to direct a user to a different URL post-story would be to add link(s) on the final slide to take them elsewhere, as you see in this example.

Let me know if I can help clarify anything further here! If you’d like to share an example of a story that is working as you described in your initial post (“at the end of their stories, a final slide click brings them to the main URL related to the story”), I’d be happy to take a look to try to identify what they are doing differently via the Editor to make that happen.
