Keyboard navigation with this plugin works somewhat, but the problem I have is that when a parent item has a landing page AND a submenu, the submenu under it isn’t accessible when only using a keyboard (pressing return on the parent item instantly goes to landing page and doesn’t offer the submenu). Is it possible to add the submenu arrow as a tab choice when tabbing through menu?

    Thanks!

  • Hey there,

To be honest there is no explicit keyboard navigation added on my part currently and may be something I need to look at for future development as I can see why it would be useful.

I will add it to my list as its not something I can rattle off as a quick hotfix I’m afraid.

I’ve just done a massive release about an hour ago so I am waiting for the dust to settle from that before committing any more big changes but I promise it won’t be forgotten about.

    Hope that helps

Hey, this question came up again and I’m wondering if there is a solution. Even if I do a “#” link for a parent item, it still won’t open a submenu on keyboard when pressing return.

Also, demo at https://demo.responsive.menu/pro-example-one/ doesn’t allow you to open submenu with keyboard, but the other two (https://demo.responsive.menu/pro-example-two/ and https://demo.responsive.menu/pro-example-three/) do allow it for some reason, why is this?

Would love a way to figure this out. A keyboard nav to the arrow would also be a solution, but it doesn’t receive any focus.

    Thank you!

    Hey there,

The two working examples work because the Make whole Sub-Menu bar clickable is turned on.

    https://responsive.menu/docs/basic-setup/sub-menus/

Have you tried turning that option on?

That works! I had an older version running on a dev server without that option. Thanks! Will just have to add landing pages underneath their name again to navigate to them, since I didn’t see any type of second click option or anything like that. I may have another accessibility related question soon under a different topic. Thanks again.

    Hey there,

No problem and I’m glad it worked for you!

    Have a great day.
