As the title say, I am getting this error in the admin section of website. Action Scheduler:?516 past due action found; something may be wrong

The number of past due actions is increasing everyday for last 4 days. I didn’t install anything in last few days so not sure what happened. How can I fix this issue?

    Hi @mayank29gupta

The issue could be due to a number of reasons such as server resources, conflicting plugins, or a problem with the Action Scheduler itself. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Ensure that your server has enough resources to handle the scheduled actions. You may need to upgrade your hosting plan or optimize your site to free up resources.
    2. Try disabling all your plugins except WooCommerce and see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, enable the plugins one by one to find out which one is causing the issue.
    3. Go to WooCommerce > Status > Scheduled Actions. If there are any actions stuck in the pending state for a long time, try running them manually.

Alternatively, you can use the WP Crontol plugin or use the server cron instead of WP cron.

I hope this helps! Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

Hello @shameemreza thanks for the reply.

I followed your steps and saw that once process is stuck in progress since last 4 days. I ran in manually and after that number of past due started to decrease to the point that it has come down to zero. I guess since it can run only 1 schedule action at time, the others kept on getting stuck in pending.

    Hi @mayank29gupta

I’m glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue by manually running the stuck process. Indeed, if a process gets stuck, it can cause other scheduled actions to pile up in the queue, leading to the error message you were seeing.

To avoid this issue in the future, I’d recommend looking into the High Volume plugin. It will allow to increase Action Scheduler time limit, queue size and concurrency to process large queues of actions more quickly on high volume websites with more server resources.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
