Would it be easy, or possible at all, to enable Gutenberg block(s) for WP comments ?
I know TinyMce will be there in background (for some years) but some uniform look is prefered.

Honestly I have no clue how would it look and be done. It would be very unique in the world. Imagine commenters need Paragraph classic block, and Image, Video embed blocks, few Formatting blocks. How ?

I guess best would be to follow what people behind bbPress do.

Extending where blocks can be added is part of the future work of Gutenberg! Work in the next focus, Phase 2, will include adding blocks to widget areas. See https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/13113 for more info on scope.

I see that you asked about this at https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/2187 and I think you’re still a bit ahead of the curve. I also think that porting blocks to widgets is a step in the direction you’re looking in!

    Thanks @designsimply.

Do not forget comments. I see it is not mentioned there. Don′t know what widgets have to do with it.

I mean some filters, nothing fancy and via GUI. As it is possible now, via filters.

Sorry that wasn’t clear! I was trying to say that widgets are first and adding block capabilities for comments isn’t planned yet but that the work on widgets may help pave the way for that.

Could you make a plugin that does that?

I really don′t know how would it look alike.
Natural for comments now is top toolbar with buttons. What to do with Gutenberg blocks ?
(Put Inserter in Comments content area ?)

You put there basic Paragraph block (that can mimic top toolbar) and how to add Image, Embeds, Code blocks ?
Let`s say for now there are no any security issues with it and no file upload possibility.

Open an issue on Github so people can share mockups, ideas, etc. Not to rush it, but just to start to visualize it.
