    Just installed the WP-HR manager and tonight I will be checking it with my client.
    I installed also Loco translate but how do I get the plug in to use the Dutch phrases etc?

    Not sure what Loco Translate will do – it’s not needed to use a translation file in the plugin you just switch the site language to what you need (also check the User settings to make sure that’s also on the language you want).
    I’m not an expert on translating WP but I notice in the i18n folder there is a wphr-nl_NL.po file byt not an .mo one and that might be the issue. I’ll look into it further and let you know.

    Go here https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/wp-hr-manager/dev/nl/default/

    – Click ‘ALL (2,338)
    – Scroll down to under the main screen
    – Select ‘Only matching the filter’ and ‘machine Object Message Catalog (mo)’
    – Download the file
    – FTP this to the i18n/languages folder in WP-HR Manager
    – Test to see if some Dutch now shows up

    That should fix the issue and if so, we will update the core plugin code next time we update it on WP with the relevent file.

    Forgot to menton – you might need to rename it to
    wphr-nl_NL.mo

    Hi this did the trick.
    Translations are far from complete but will do. Frontend to employees will be the most important. We’ll see.

    Must say the documentation is far from clear on this topic.
    It seems to say you have to translate all by your self…

    Yes you do have to translate it if no one else has yet done it. In this case someone has done some already. Developers don’t generally translate the plugins – it’s done as a ‘WordPress Community’ thing. WordPress has a portal for Users to translate plugins, but it is a bit cloncky – translators have to have their work approved and only when you get 95% done will it actually show up. Currently only 50% of the Dutch translation is done so we have to use a manual work around to provide the translation to users. If you want to add translation suggestions on the page link I sent you then feel free as it will grow the amount translated – just focus on any key terms you need users to see and add it to your plugin using the same method you just tried – and we can copy the file back into the live plugin for you periodically so you don’t loose the translations when we issue updates.

    I’ll get the current file inlcuded in our next update and it should be automatic from there.

    Maybe I’m a bit spoiled. I have bought some other commercial plugins for other projects (hotel booking and time scheduling) and these came with the translations complete.

    I’d be willing to put some efforts in helping with translating in Dutch.
    First I need to get the new site online in a short time.
