activated plugin breaks save function in theme/plugin Editor

    Nice Chat plugin, like it, but when i have activated the plugin and try to use theme editor or plugin editor, once i press save button the system hangs, does not save any changes until i restart browser after timeout of about 30 secs.

    When SAC plugin is not active saving chages in plugin/theme editor works.

    As no error message displaying, i have no idea how SAC breaks the save function.

    Happens regardless of what theme chosen. WordPress 5.3.1, PHP 7.3, MySQL 5.6.x

    Thanks for the feedback. I’ve not heard of anything like this before, and just tested SAC on default WP with normal results. Are you getting any errors on screen or in the site’s error/debug logs? Any sort of clues would be useful for investigating.

    its a hosted environment – no access to logs. when i turn debugging on, no php error messages appear. After save timeout:

    “Etwas lief schief. Deine ?nderung wurde vermutlich nicht gespeichert. Bitte erneut versuchen. Es besteht die M?glichkeit, dass du den Fehler manuell beheben und die Datei per FTP hochladen musst.”

    and nothing is saved

    WP health check is with no issues.

    BTW: having the same issue, when activating access password category plugin instead.

    Both of them causing save in plugin/theme editor fail.

    Thanks for the infos. In order to investigate further, it is necessary to recreate the issue on default WP install. Otherwise, there is no way to test, troubleshoot, etc. If you can provide clear/simple steps to replicate the issue on default WP, it will enable further testing. For example, clear/simple steps might look something like this:

    1) Install WP, leave everything at default settings, plugins, theme, etc.
    2) Install SAC plugin, add form to page
    3) Visit the Theme or Plugin Editor
    4) Etc.

    That way, we can follow along and try to help asap, thank you.

    Solution found:
    Testing in a lab environment made it work with all plugins and theme installed. No breaks on save.

    Only difference was db version.

    So i upgraded Mysql on the hosted live system to version 5.7. Since then it did not happen again.
