The front and back end both have to be on SSL then. WordPress uses cookies tied to the exact domain to determine if you are logged in.

In your senerio the admin bar would not work as well.

When I set the WordPress HTTPS plugin to ‘Always use HTTPS while in the admin panel’ I was not able to login anymore. So via ftp I disabled this plugin. Logged in to the backend. Deleted the plugin WordPress HTTPS. Installed it again without setting ‘Always use HTTPS while in the admin panel’. And then Coming Soon worked as usual.

    Thanks for the fast support!
