Activating Multisite in an already installed installation

    I have none multisite WordPress installation installed in a folder, (named latest) at domain.org/latest
    The installation is less than 30 days old. Do i have to move the installation up one level before i can activate multisite functionality? I already have an index.html file at root and want this to be the file that is rendered if just the domain URL is used.
