I have everything up and running and have transferred my domain name over to my new .org site. However when I enter my domain name, it still takes me to my old .com site. I must have skipped a step…can someone give me a link where I can find directions to fix this? Thanks!

  • Could you clarify what domain name you HAVE been using on your site, what you are changing it to and what it is you are trying to do?

And where the domain name(s) were/are REGISTERED?

    I am registered at BlueHost.

I had purchased Plowing Forward for my .com site, but I switched over to .org and want the domain to come with me. It currently still goes back to the .com site.

I tried to manually change the URL in my .org Dashboard to plowingforward.com. Now I am unable to find a way into my .org site/dashboard.

Okay, that’s what I thought, but just checking.

The nameservers are evidently set to WordPress.COM – so that’s what you need to change via your WP.COM dashboard. If that’s not working, you need to ask them for help with it.

(I’m assuming you did not transfer the registration of the domain name to BlueHost – as that’s not what the whois page shows…)

I just completed the transfer 15 minutes ago. Maybe it’s taking a minute to show that? Just got a confirmation email telling me I’ve successfully “transferred away from Automattic to FASTDOMAIN, INC” I’m not sure what either of those companies are or what that means, but I have access to my Domain Manager now in Blue Host.

At this point, do I change my Custom Nameserver to plowingforward.com??

I’m not sure how that works – Automattic is WordPress.COM – FASTDOMAIN may be the domain registrar BlueHost uses.

The nameservers need to be set to BlueHost’s nameserver settings – you should be able to find what those are on their site.

Do be aware that these changes do take some time to take full effect – as in 24-72 hours. (Maybe faster but no way to know that.)

EDIT – actually, I’m not sure about that nameserver setting – sounds like that may be a BlueHost setting for your site – so check with them.

Ok. Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully I can find what I need at BlueHost. I’m seriously sweating here! ??

    Have a good weekend.

Don’t worry too much – your site is actually quite okay – it’s just this bit so you can access it – and you’ll get this sorted ??

Between you and BlueHost, it’s all sorted out. Just waiting for everything to switch over now.

    Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome – happy ending are always a good thing :)!
