We’ve been using the plugin for a while fine, today we were getting 504 Gateway timeout errors. With the plugin disabled the problem goes away.

  • Same problem since plugin auto updated 8/31/2023 to Version 2023.7. It was happening under PHP 8.1 and still after reverting to PHP 7.4x.

I changed the default YES to NO in your Settings > Options > Checking/Monitoring of iframes > Check Url on load and then I clicked the Update Settings button. It took a long to save, and still did not speed up the Admin Dashboard.

I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.

It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.

There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.

    • Ask for a link to the https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com log of the user’s web server error log.
    • Ask the user to create and post a link to their phpinfo(); output.
    • Ask the user to install the Health Check plugin and get the data that way.
    • Walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.
    • Walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins, clear their cache and cookies and try again.
    • Ask the user for the step-by-step on how they can reproduce the problem.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

Today I had to rename the plugins folder to force all of the plugins to be disabled. This was because of a different plugin. But now I am back to the original problem. I have to assume the setting somehow got changed when I forced the plugin to be disabled. I hope you’re going to have a fix for the plugin.

@winterstreet Can you please send me your e-mail. I have a local version where I have changed some timeouts. I would like to send you a link to this version before making a release which affect everyone.

    See my e-mail here: https://www.tinywebgallery.com/en/about.php

    Best regards, Michael

    Sent, thanks.

What was very strange is that I wasn’t able to get to the setting, so I disabled the plugin, turned it back on and now it’s all fine again.

One thing that might be different with this site is that it uses the Sucuri firewall, which I just learned today also has caching.

I installed the new version and everything seems to be fine. Thanks.

I just got a message from my webhoster about problems this week. So I think this was the root cause as this resulted most likely in the timeouts when getting the latest version info. I your version I reduced the timeout from the default to 10 sec and now even if the same issue hapens again you only should get this 10 seconds delay once.
I will release this version asap I have finished all my internal tests for it.
