Updated to 1.8.1 and got an error:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/genesis-title-toggle/genesis-title-toggle.php on line 381

I reverted to version 1.7.1 and it works.

Site uses Elegance theme. WordPress, Genesis and all plugins are up to to date.

Can you install the Display PHP Version plugin to see what version of PHP you’re running?

My guess is you are using an old, unsupported version of PHP. This plugin requires PHP 5.4 or higher.

I highly recommend you use at least PHP 5.6 since that still receives security updates. It would be better to use PHP 7.2 since that’s the recommended version for WordPress.

If your hosting environment cannot upgrade PHP, then you can continue to use the older version of this plugin (1.7.1). The most recent version added support for certain themes in which StudioPress moved the page title (more information). This doesn’t affect the Elegance theme so there will be no difference between 1.7.1 and 1.8.0 for you.

We are using 5.5. We are hoping up upgrade to 5.6 soon. I’m fine using 1.7.1.

    Thanks for the help!!
