Activating User Re-Sets Custom Password
-
I recently installed wp-members. I have pre-existing users on my site. When the pre-existing users try to log in, they cannot do so because they are not activated. When I go in and activate the users, their previous passwords are reset and they are prompted to sign in and re-create their info. This is a very big inconvenience for my previous users.
I currently have my users enter a custom password when registering. This eliminates the need for them to return to re-set a generic issued password. The problem is that when I activate them it re-sets and emails a generic password anyways, thus confusing registrants because they’ve already selected a custom one.
I’m torn. I would really like to use the “hold for manual activation” feature but it seems to complicate the password system. Do you have any suggestions for streamlining this process? Is it possible to not have the system automatically generate a generic password?
