    Hi there!

I’m sarting to use FooGallery on a few sites and really love the plugin! The base templates are all working great as well as most addon templates.

But I’ve been unable to make Owl Carousel work at all. When go to FooPlugins > Extensions and activate it there, a second version of Owl Carousel appears on the list (but only one is activated).

In a gallery page I then can then set up Owl Carousel options but the display on the front end is completely broken and only shows error messages:

: Undefined property: Owl_Carousel_Template_FooGallery_Extension::$caption in on line : Undefined property: Owl_Carousel_Template_FooGallery_Extension::$description in on line :

This repeats a few times and no line number is displayed. Below that, some more error messages are displayed and actually slide. Below that there’s the navigation but there’s a ton of bullets while only 4 images in the gallery I was testing with. You can see what I mean in the right sidebar here:

Site is in development. Theme is Genesis with Minimum Pro child theme. Same issue with TwentyTwelve active. Minimal set of plugins activated.

Any idea what might be going on? This is the only template causing issues. All others work fine.

    Thanks!

Please go into your Plugins page, and make sure Owl Carousel is installed and activated there as well. Let me know how that goes.

    Hi!

Yes, it is. I forgot to mention it but I had checked there and it is installed and activated in the regular WP plugins page.

    Thanks!

Btw, another thing I noticed on the same site, when OWl Carousel is activated, the images in the Media Library never actually load. Weird thing. Also, deactivating in FooGallery’s Extensions page doesn’t actually deactivate in the regular WordPress plugins page. FYI.

    Thanks!

I just saw your reply here, not sure why I didn’t get a notification. I can’t duplicate the problem at all, and it looks like you’ve moved on to a different solution (understandably). If you want to get it working again, feel free to reach out to me directly at my website

Hi, let me chime in here: i am having the very same issue:

    • when I go to the extensions tab in the FooGallery settings, it shows TWO versions of Owl
    • when I go to the Owl settings page, I have the different option sections TWICE underneath each other – and the top one doesn’t save changed settings. To explain in more detail: When I go into a gallery and pick Owl, it get a settings page with the following sections:
    1. Thumbnail Size and Styles
    2. Carousel Stage
    3. Carousel Navigation
    4. Thumbnail Size and Styles
    5. Carousel Stage
    6. Carousel Navigation

The first instance doesn’t take changed inputs – when I change a value and then save, it reloads the page but the changed settings don’t stick. The second instance further down the page however works.
However, the gallery shows fine on the frontend (unlike the OP, I don’t get any error messages) – it’s just a bit of a hassle to change any setting.
My solution was: simply deactivate ONE of the TWO Owl extensions that get displayed. Reloading the extension list didn’t fix the issue with Owl appearing twice.

THEORY: I activated a lot of the extensions really fast by clicking on all the free extensions without really bothering to wait for the previous install to finish. Maybe that messed-up anything? Try to install Owl alongside with other free extensions on a NON-Local WP install to see if you can replicate the problem.

If you want, I can also send you a backup of my site so you can look into the problem – just shoot me an email if that would be helpful.

Otherwise: congrats on a fantastic extension!

Thanks for the detailed feedback. Can I ask how you intially downloaded Owl? Did you do it through the FooGallery extensions panel, or through the WordPress Add Plugin area? This might be something that needs to be resolved within FooGallery core, but I’d like to get as much info as possible to be able to duplicate the problem and troubleshoot. Thanks!

I installed it through the FooGallery extensions panel – and like I said, I may have clicked too hastily on all the different extension install buttons and ignored a current installation process of a previous FooGallery extension…

I’d try deactivating and deleting FooGallery and Owl, then re-installing FooGallery, then installing Owl via the FooGallery Extensions tab and see how that goes. It will save all your galleries and settings so nothing is lost. Let me know how that goes.

I am having this same issue. Any solutions?

I haven’t been able to duplicate the issue though I’ve tried multiple types of activation and installation. My advice is to uninstall Owl Carousel and FooGallery and then run a tool like WPDBSpring Clean to make sure all table related to Owl Carousel are gone, then install and activate Owl Carousel through the WP Add New Plugin tool (rather than within the FooGallery extensions tab).

Let me know if you have any progress in that area.

The FooPlugins team narrowed down the issue with the duplicate activation problem. If you deactivate both Owl and FooGallery and then reactivate it should be resolved now.

Let me know how that goes.

    Hi Matt!

Just tested on my local dev server and indeed, the problem seems to be fixed! Carousel shows fine on the front end and no dual activation on the extensions screen.

    Thank you!
