I have moved my site to a new web host and manually removed Wordfence. Installed a fresh copy of the plugin, but when I try to activate it fails; internal server error 500.

    Wordpress 5.4.2, the server is running PHP 7.3.18, auto_prepend is empty, memory_limit 256M did nothing, SSL/TLS v. 1.2.

I’ve gone through the removal/installation process several times, but nothing works.

  • Can you delete the plugin folder again using FTP, then install the Wordfence Assistant plugin?
Once you have installed and activated it use the Wordfence Assistant plugin to “delete all tables and data” and try a reinstall of Wordfence.

I have already deleted everything, but installed Wordfence Assistant plugin and “Delete all Wordfence data and tables”, installed Wordfence again only to get an “Internal server error” on activation.

Can you check the server error logs for any messages around when this happens?

I believe this is the same issue as in your other post. The wfconfig table doesn’t exist. Please ensure that the database user has the CREATE permission.

I will set this post as solved as it is the same issue as my other post: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/scan-hangup/
