@sagive I’m sorry to hear you feel this way. As you can see by the number of users of this plugin (100,000+), there are many people that find this free plugin offers value for their site. When we first created this, there was no pro version for quite a long time, but over time people were asking for more advanced features and we decided to launch a Pro version. You might even say the pro version is quite minimalistic, but that’s the entire point of this plugin: simple but effective.
We also do our best to provide support for the free version here on the forums whenever we can.

I don’t see how that causes other devs to not develop an alternative, every developer is free to develop a plugin and launch it on www.ads-software.com.

Answer to sagive.
I am very grateful to Ewout for this wonderful free fully functional plugin.
Everyone needs money to live, work, eat, and dress, even the developers of free plugins. Do not offend developers for the fact that they also need money.

I’m no longer involved with this plugin, but I was the initial creator of it.

If it wasn’t for Ewout joining and helping me build a paid version of this plugin, it wouldn’t exist today – 8 years later. My first couple months I averaged less than $20/month in donations. Creating a paid version of this and other plugins allowed us to eventually dedicate full-time support to developing and maintaining a suite of tools that are used (for FREE) on literally hundreds of thousands of websites.

THOUSANDS of hours have gone into development, maintenance, and support to keep this plugin running for nearly a decade. Without the paid version, this wouldn’t have been maintained this long. Imagine what would happen to your site if you installed an 8 year old plugin that hadn’t been maintained. It wouldn’t be good…

I’d like to ask you to reconsider your review. Ewout is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. His dedication to offering a high quality product while minimizing the financial burden to customers is literally unmatched. In all my years working in web software I’ve never met anyone less greedy than Ewout. This just isn’t a fair assessment of this product, or Ewout.

Free software is a gift from a generous person. Nobody is obliged to write free software for everyone. For free software, you can only feel gratitude and use it or not, at your choice.
This plugin provides all the features you need for free and works great. This arouses admiration and gratitude.
In the end, under the plugin’s license, you have every right to change the code however you like and not pay for the paid version instead of judging the developer for not being able to eat air. You can also write your own plugin of your choice.
