\The plugin already has everything you would need to be GDPR compliant, we will add some features to make it easier for you in the next update, like warnings with certain settings and an easier way to include a required checkbox to confirm data is saved at MailChimp. Keep an eye on this article for more information: https://kb.mc4wp.com/gdpr-compliance/

For now, if you like to add that checkbox you can use this code in the form builder: https://gist.github.com/dannyvankooten/c6ac57e734348fdf7ce1b3b65e4ecdd7

MailChimp does not let us set those GDPR fields via the API, but instead advised us and our users to use normal interest groups. You can include those in the form as checkboxes and it will be saved in MailChimp and let you create segments based on what boxes someone checked.
If you add new interest groups it can take awhile before the button to insert them into the forms show in our plugin, to speed that up go to Mailchimp for WP > Mailchimp after creating the interest groups and click the “Renew MailChimp Lists” button to directly pull in the latest fields and lists.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!

    That worked perfect. Thanks!

I’m not sure I’m quite understanding the explanation above.

I have followed Mailchimps instructions: https://kb.mailchimp.com/accounts/management/collect-consent-with-gdpr-forms

So, I have -as instructed- enabled GDPR fields (Marketing consent, opted-in: email). Send all subscribers an email to reconfirm so that this GDPR field is filled. Lastly, create a segment with the rule that only subscribers are added when they have opted in through this field. After some struggling, everything works as a charm.

However, customers that checkout in my webshop and opt-in through your plugin do NOT have this GDPR field activated. Consequence: they are not added to the new segment.

Now I read that your plugin can’t do this by definition as the mailchimp API does not allow this field to be added. So what can I do if I want to use your plugin AND use these GDPR fields in Mailchimp?

Or is this combination not possible?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

I also have the same question as silverbackprotein. I have been using your plugin for years and all worked great.

I have followed MailChimp’s docs and enabled the GDPR forms only to find that users opting-in from my WooCommerce checkout page don’t see these consent options.

I added these options as a regular interest group as you suggested, however, when a user checks the option box on the Checkout page, the interest group options aren’t displayed to the user. They receive the double opt-in email, but that does not include interest group options. So how do we display the interest group options to users on a checkout form to add them to the consented segment?

If the field cannot be fetched via API, is there maybe a way to copy&paste the HTML snippet for the checkbox out of of the form builder?
