• I’d like to add a favicon to my WordPress blog but can’t figure out one part of the instructions that I read on https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Creating_a_Favicon. The instructions are as follows:

    1. With an FTP Client, upload the new favicon.ico file into your current theme’s main folder.
    2. Upload another copy of your favicon.ico file to the main directory of your site (ie. https://example.com/favicon.ico). This will display the favicon in your subscribers’ feedreaders.

Could someone help with bullet point #1? I’ve already done #2 but just can’t figure out exactly how to do #1. I’m still familiarizing myself with my theme and the related parts.

    Thanks.

    Carl

  • Look in Admin/Appearance/Themes. Under Current Theme, the line “All of this theme’s files are located in” will indicate your current theme’s main folder.

Upload the favicon file to this folder (you’ll find it in wp-content/themes).

OK, that makes sense. Thanks for your help!

Esmi, it worked perfect for me (in less than 2 minutes). You made it sound so easy, so thank you! I’ve been to so many sites (including wordpress) and people made the whole process of adding a favicon so complicated. I wish there was more help like you who explain things in a plain and straightforward way! ??
