Add Additional Text Box to List

Is there any way to add a text box in addition to the “ToDo” text box that shows up in the list?

For example, I would like a user to put in their ToDo item and then be able to add a short comment about it.

I know how to add it into an unused field in the post but am not sure how to get it to show up in the list.
