I haven’t used WordPress in about 5 years and the new post interface is driving me insane, I’d just like to add another image to a gallery but there’s no visible option for it that I can find. Please advise! thanks.

When you select the gallery block, there is a small “+” above it in the options. Click on it – then you can edit the images that are in the gallery.

Here is also an article about it, but it shows older views of the block editor (but are similar to the current procedure): https://gutenberghub.com/create-scrollable-image-gallery-block/#adding-a-way-to-edit-the-gallery

Thanks but the only “+” I see is at the top left and it only inserts a block. When I click the image there’s no new “+”. Some options appear above the image but I tried them all. It used to be so easy. They really messed up the post editor, I’m having issues with all kinds of basics and can’t proceed. I tried a classic post editor plugin but it’s just as bad, there’s no way to select and edit the entire gallery, only individual images.

When you click on an image, you have selected an image block. From there you have to “shimmy up” to the gallery. Above the image you have an option bar with an icon on the far left that you can use to select the block above it – if you have selected the image, this is the gallery block that you can reach above it. Then you will also see the smaller plus icon in the options bar. I don’t mean the + in the upper left corner of the editor.

Also have a look at some basics about this, in case this is not immediately obvious to you: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-the-new-wordpress-block-editor/

Thanks I got it. And thanks for the link, I’ll be needing that.
