  • You can install wordpress in a folder (directory) and place a link in your exiting website.

Hi! I have tried to make my first post! Why is it not viewable??? All I can see is the same old website that I have.

If you still see your old website then you must have installed wordpress in same directory as your old website you need to move the files related to your old website as you can only have one index file in directory and you must have two index.html and wordpress has index.php

hi grovpatel, so how do u like me to delete the old files
it is indeed automatically in my FTP directory. which directory i should upload the wp files?

they are all under www directory

they need to be in www directory bur a directory of its own.

I assume your using loacalhost locally if so you just add wordpress folder in www and then reinstall wordpress

hi grovpatel do u have a yahoo ID pls to make is more faster communication. thanks mine is: msawie

I believe someone asked their own question in my post and people are now answering that question. So let me try to start over.

I have an existing web site and would like to us a blog on that web site without changing who hosts it for me. I do not see anything in WordPress that tells me how to do that. What I see on that site seems to insist that that I use WordPress as the host for my entire site.

Does anyone know where there are directions that tell how to use WordPress to put a blog on my existing web site using my existing host?

Yeah. It’s annoying when people do that.

I have an existing web site and would like to us a blog on that web site

    OK. See this:
(I’m assuming you have FTP access.)

    1. Create a new folder in your website. You can call it whatever you like, but something along the lines of /blog may suit it better than something nondescript.
    2. Download the latest version of WordPress from www.ads-software.com.
    3. Upload that download into the folder which you created in step 1.
    4. Create a MySQL database. If you are unsure about this, ask your host.
    5. Visit yourdomain.com/yourfolder.
    6. Enter your MySQL information
    7. Create a user & it’s password.
    8. Done!

    Hope this helps.
