• Hi there,

Is it possible to add a ‘content area’ to the side menu which can be edited through the admin?

    Thanks!

  • By “content” you mean entries? If so, then those entries can be edited in the Dashboard as normal entries. Otherwise, I guess edit the sidebar.php file from the Presentations tab? Maybe I’m not understanding what you want to do.

Ok, basically I want to add a small text content piece on the right hand side which I can edit through the admin instead of having to edit the sidebar.php file an duploading it each time. Is this possible?

You don’t have to “upload” each time you edit a theme template such as sidebar.php, you can edit it right from within the WP dashboard under Presentations. Just choose the theme from the dropdown (it usually defaults to your current theme), click on sidebar.php in the list on the right and edit away, hit the Save button and you’re good to go.

NOTE: You need to be sure your theme template files and stylesheet (files ending in .php and .css in your themes’ folders) are CHMODed to 766 in order to edit them from within the WP dashboard.

But maybe you just need a text widget, hmm?
