    Hello,
I use a theme which is located in wp-content/themes. Languages of this theme are saved in wp-content/themes/themename/language.

This theme has no german translation, so I created a translation with POEdit and saved the file in wp-content/languages/themes.

Now I do not want to edit the file locally and upload it all the time with my FTP tool – so I am looking for a possibility to edit this custom file via Loco Translate. Is this somehow possible? I do not see an option to include files from the folder wp-content/languages/theme , do you?

Your custom file will show up if (1) it’s correctly named, and (2) the theme declares its text domain correctly.

    Hmm, but where?

The filename was: swiftframework-de_DE.po and swiftframework-de_DE_.mo and these two files were working on the frontend. Then I switched to the language de_DE_formal in WP and changed the filenames to swiftframework-de_DE_formal.po/.mo. Those are working right now on the frontend, but where can I find these in Loco?

The theme is neighboorhood and the textdomain is switftframework. I set this up in the tab: https://d.pr/i/gpTtgM

On the other tab I do see this, but not my translation: https://d.pr/i/2NVW57

    Can you assist?

You also need to set the file prefix to the text domain. You’ve told Loco that the files have no prefix. See documentation.

    Thanks Tim. It’s working now!
