Useless to read a post that seems to describe a problem identical to the one you’re having only to realize it’s five years old. Can’t posts be ranked by date. Can’t the date be shown in the head for the post? Seems sensible and simple to me.

Even five-year-old threads are sometimes highly useful to resolve current problems.

Never said they weren’t. But who wants to open every one of 50 posts to see if they’re relevant?

Do you mean the thread title?

For now moderators are doing their best to cut down on useless comments that make it difficult for people to find answers as you describe.

I think putting the date in the title of each post would be helpful when you are searching to see if someone has a similar problem to yours. One of the first things I noticed about WordPress forums is how search results are so disorganized. Anything that makes searches more accurate is good. A disorganized collection of results tends to discourage searching in the first place.
