    Hi

I use woocommerce to sell packets of seeds to gardeners.

I use two packet sizes for some products (regular and large) but 95% of customers buy regular packets so i would like the button on the shop page to add the default variation to the cart as it would for a simple product, instead of having to go into the product page and select as this will be much faster for my users.

    Is this possible?

    thanks

  • Hi @vitalseeds

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you want to change the Select Options button of your variable products to Add to Cart that will automatically select a default variation, is that correct?

In this case, I would suggest converting these variable products into simple products instead.

Otherwise, you could do it with some customization, however, this is a bit complex. Since custom coding is outside our scope of support, I am leaving this thread open for a bit to see if anyone can chime in to help you out.

For questions related to development and custom coding, your best bet is to ask on any of these channels for support. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there, too.

    Hi there

    Thanks for your response.

However the reason the products have variations is because they are variable, so changing them to simple products is not an option.

Ill wait to see if anyone has a simple solution, i thought maybe there would be a filter / snippet but maybe its a bit too complex for that.

    Hi,

i would like the button on the shop page to add the default variation to the cart

As an alternative solution, you can set the default variation. When the customer visits the product page, the variant will be already selected.

You can learn more on our documentation:
    https://woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/#setting-defaults

I hope this points you in the right direction.

thanks @ihereira i already have the defaults set but the point is that i dont want my customers to have go through to the product page as its bad for the UX, the less clicks and page loads the better
