Add Disqus comment count to Single Post Hero?

We’re using Generate Press Pro. I want to add a Disqus comment count to our Single Post Hero element. In normal WordPress/PHP, I would add this line to my post headline (given that the Disqus comment count script is active; it is):
#disqus_thread”>Comments
However I am struggling to figure out how to do this within the Single Post Hero element.
I tried to include the html/php within a Custom Field, but again am struggling with how to use php within a custom field.
Can you help?
