Add/ Edit Blog Post gives white screen in WP 5.9

  • Just upgraded to WP 5.9. Since then, if I try to add a new blog post or edit an existing blog post I just get a white screen.

    I have tried everything I can think of but I cannot get this to work!

    On the advice of another thread in here I installed Health Check plugin, but that just seems to render my site in plain text, it’s unusable – so I just disabled that plugin.

    Any advice on how to add a new blog post again?

  • Clearly you have a conflict somewhere, with php version or plugin or theme or core.

    I would start my looking in your php error logs by logging into your host. There is likely a Fatal Error line in there.

    Yes, it seems to have been a problem with one of the plugins “Disable XML-RPC-API”. I am not sure if it was the latest update to the plugin or to WordPress itself. In either case, I have reached out the plugin developer.

    Hoping they have a solution to the problem.

    Just delete this plugin for now.
