    1. From Gtmetrix’s Yslow score: There is 1 static component without a far-future expiration date. https://www.example.com/koko-analytics-collect.php?p=xxx&nv=1&up=1&r=
    2. I also saw my adblocker doesn’t detect the tracking code? If so, very impressive!

    1. Obviously we don’t want to load the tracker from cache as then we wouldn’t receive the data so that is by design.

    2. We fully respect “do not track” browser setting, so if someone wants to block trackers we don’t track their visits. We do not show any ads and we do not use tracking data in an ad network as other tracker may do. In fact “we” don’t get the data at all, it only stay within your own WordPress environment and isn’t shared with anyone else. I think that is why ad-blockers don’t block Koko.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Is do not track set by default? I think I have that in all my browsers. I kinda thought it was optional in the settings. But I saw there was a way to track these stats without setting a cookie? If you can, kindly assist with the function.

In some more privacy friendly browsers, like Firefox, I think it is nowadays.

I’m not sure what you are asking for, the option to disable cookies or the option to track even though do not track is turned off?

I recommend to respect your visitors “do not track” request, it’s the civil thing to do. Turning on or off cookies is not directly related to that, but you can disable cookies from the Koko settings screen.

There is a code snippet to make Koko ignore the do not track setting, but it’s top secret, so I won’t share a direct link to it here. You can find it in the code snippets on Git if you really really want to do that.

I saw the Git changes, but the files changed were several and having to edit them every plugin update would be tiresome. No need then. But the way you respond to it seems like it is the developers dictating what the plugin users should or should not do with the plugin and their own visitors.

The option is there, but personally (and I’m not actually the developer, I’m just here to provide you with totally free support) I indeed prefer all sites on the internet would respect the “Do not track me” setting so I choose to not promote this feature too loudly on this free support forum. If the developer chose to “dictate” this the option wouldn’t exist at all.

As you may have noticed, Koko cares about privacy, that’s the niche of this plugin.

Anyway, there is a code snippet, in the code snippets folder, no need to change every update.

I will look for it. I respect what the plugin does. But with the features it is collecting right now, I think it makes sense to have the feature to disable ‘do not track’ by default or openly available somewhere. When using GA, I had the option disabled, but I ensured that I set up my GA in a way that it respected the user’s privacy at least to the most extent. I would still do this even when more features are added to the plugin (Koko) that does more tracking. Thanks though.
