    Hi Ashley,

firstly, thanks for an excellent plugin!

I was looking for this here and on your site as well but couldn’t find it mentioned anywhere, so I’m opening this thread then.

If possible, I would like the file extension of the download to be shown before the file size at the end of the download link. According to usability and accessibility guidelines, user should be presented with this info.

So the download link should look like this:

My excellent ebook (PDF, 1.3 MB)
Picture of my cat (JPG, 132 KB)

As I’m not an PHP developer, I’m not sure about this but I think it should be possible to grab the file extension and display it—ideally all caps—in the link.

If this is somehow possible now, please let me know how. If not, consider this as a feature suggestion.

Thanks, have a great rest of the weekend!

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the feedback! I will get a wildcard for the file extension added in the next version. In the meantime this can be achieved using the dedo_search_replace_wildcards filter, however your going to need a few lines of PHP in your theme’s function file.

If interested I may be able to put something together quickly.

I’ve just checked the once again the wildcard usage and have one more request/suggestion:

As I’m mostly using your plugin to display download lists, could you also add an option to Default List Stye settings as “Title (Extension, Filesize)”, please? That would be exactly what I need.

Maybe you could add an input to define custom output style for lists the way it can be defined for single downloads. Just an idea (o:

    Thanks once again. Cheers!
