Add Gallery to post not loading correctly

This is been an ongoing problem for months. I’ll think its fixed itself, or I’ll find a work around, and then that’ll stop working.

I do weekly meme posts on my blog, this involves uploading a not small number of pictures to one post. Recently the add gallery block has not been working correctly. While it’ll load the pictures the settings for Image Size just spins and spins and doesn’t load. At first I wasn’t worried, I don’t change that setting usually. But it turns out that when that doesn’t load correctly other settings are affected, so while the post appears on the blog pictures don’t load correctly.

Letting the page just wait and see if it loads doesn’t appear to work any more (though it did a few times). I’ve let it set for upwards of half an hour and gotten no where.

I’ve tried using a different browser (it worked a couple times and then it started doing it there too).

I cleared the browser cache, didn’t make a difference.

I tried loading the images using both the “drag and drop” method and the “click here to upload and choose images” method. Switching to the “click here to upload” method worked for a few weeks, but has stopped working.

I’m not using an extra plugins to manage the gallery images or the like.
