• I have been testing KADENCE (free… and thank you for that ?? ) and it seems to fill my needs so I am considering it for other sites but it I do not see how I can add graphic or shortcode to the home page without editing the theme.

    I understand your paid version offers a slider but I would like to use my current sliders so inserting a shortcode, like asked https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/shortcodes-398/ is all that is needed.

    At very least I need to be able to insert a single graphic on the home page below the menu and above the posts.

    Thoughts?

    Hey,
    Thanks for reaching out! If your homepage is set as a static page then you can add your shortcode into a shortcode block if using the block editor, or any content area if not. Does this work for you?

    Kindly,
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah;

    Unfortunately no, I need a graphic, preferably a slider, under the header menu and above the most recent posts.

    I am 95% of the way to selecting a different theme, so this is no longer a serious concern for me, but if you want to answer others may find it useful.

    Thanks and stay safe.

    Hey,
    If you are using the latest posts as your front page then the template output is an archive. There are not settings to add content above the latest posts.

    If you go to appearance > customize > home settings you can enable that your site name be set as the “title” for that front page, which would allow the title area to show which can have a title and background image. That is the only close built-in option. It can be exactly like you currently have it on the site you linked to.

    Otherwise, you need to set the home page as a static page and then you can create it however you want with content from the page editor. You can add posts back in using a block so this is really the best option if you want a custom output.

    Also just a note that with the pro addon you can hook elements anywhere in the output so this it possible through pro.

    I hope that clarifies and helps.

    Best of luck!

    Ben
