I forgot to ask one more question on this subject.

Do you know of an easy way to make it so the user can change their profile picture later?

I created an account, uploaded a photo on registration, and then tried to change the profile photo from the Buddypress Account Settings area. I clicked “Change profile photo,” and it let me upload a new photo, however, the system maintains the original photo, regardless. (So the user is permanently stuck with the photo they uploaded upon registration.)

    Mr Lopez,

While using this function, I noticed that users are unable to change their profile photo, at least not using normal Buddypress procedures.

I logged in as a user who used this function at registration, then I clicked “Change Profile Photo” from the Buddypress menu. I uploaded a new photo, and it displayed it, and told me that it was uploaded successfully, but it doesn’t save the new image, it still used the one uploaded at registration.

Can you point me in the right direction towards fixing this?

    Thank you!

    Hi,
Sorry for the late answer but I just started this week a new job so I’m a little overwhelmed right now… xD

With this method you cannot use anymore the buddypress “change profile photo”, you need to hide it and use the xprofile field within the edit profile form.

You need to think another solution if you want to keep using change profile photo, maybe if you check where the photo are saved using buddypress you can create a method to simulate the upload of a profile photo after user registration using your xprofile field.

The method I gave you override the display of the normal buddypress photo with a xprofile field value.
