I really like this Plugin. It works great. Where it could use some improvement is in how things display. For most of us, doing some type of coding customization is beyond us. I use a lot of Plugins and like the kinds where the Plugin offers options and adjustments to get it the way you want. With that in mind, let me offer two major improvements that would take this Plugin to the next level.

    1. Add an image uploader so we can add an image to become the button. If we can load our own buttons of our own design, then we can make our pages look exactly like we want and get more people to click on those buttons.

With this addition, you would need to have boxes to put in the pixel size of the image for display so we can make it bigger or smaller to fit it exactly the way we want on the page.

The button image uploader would override any text box information because it would essentially replace it. Those that use this option would have to put their own text in the image itself. This will allow for buttons of any size, shape and color and fonts we want. All the Plugin has to do is use that image as a hot link to click on for the download.

    2. For those that don’t want to do this, I recommend the following additions to the existing settings. Allow us to select the pixel size of the box that shows and select the size, color and strength of the font. This will allow someone to make the box bigger or smaller and make the font bigger or smaller as well.

My standard when looking at Plugins which do something that involves buttons and fonts is Simple Share Button. You can adjust that Plugin however you want changing the size of the icons, size and color of fonts, spacing and placement. To me, it’s the gold standard of plugins that perform a function where someone clicks on a button or image to do something.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve just had a quick look at the Simple Share Button plugin and the customisation options are very good, so consider the features added to the to-do list. That said, the list is getting quite long so it may be some time until you see them added. The next update does improve on how custom buttons can be defined, however it still requires the custom CSS classes are added to the theme files.
