Add items to cart via Json or link

I am potentially planning a WordPress build with the Ecommerce product catalog quote cart inquiry functions, however I have a need beyond the plugins default capabilities per the product documentation. I need to be able to add a custom product configured in an other application to the quote cart to send in quote inquiry emails. I believe I can achieve this if there is a Ajax function or URL link with query parameters I can trigger from the other application’s submission to apply a product description and SKU to the quote cart for submission in a quote request email. Any kind of endpoint available beyond calling an actual PHP function will probably suffice. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
