I see there is a thread below on this subject but frankly I’m stuck. I’m using WP 2.6.1 and Blixed 1.0 with my own tweaks on the css. I also use Firefox Version 3.0.1 and Safari Version 3.1.2 and I’m getting this issue. I’ve cleared the cache in both browsers. I’ve reinstalled WP. I’m updated my flash for both browsers.

My problem isn’t limited to just the media file button though. It is all the buttons.

    Anyone got any more suggestions?

Update. I’ve deactivated all plug-ins. I also tried out the .htaccess patch.

Do you have an uploads folder?

It sounds like you may still have missing core WordPress files from your reinstall.

I’m pretty sure I’m not missing any files. I went through and did a file my file load at one point and I believe everything is there.

I’m wondering if this isn’t some issue with WP 2.6.1 because I’m running a fansite on the same host that uses WP 2.6 and I have no issues what so ever with the buttons.

same thing is happening to me as well.. i was using nextgen gallery, but deactivated it, and media upload button is still not there.

What happens when you try to access the image files directly with your browser? Also, a link to your site would help.

images are accessible directly from the browser

one site i’m working on with the issue is https://event.solarcrash.com

    thanks.

Turns out my ftp app was corrupting the images.
