• I posted in another forum topic but I think it’s possibly a different (related?) problem so I wanted to post it here.

Has anyone figured out what this is related to? I manage a site for someone that has worked great until a couple of weeks ago after an update. What happens is that where you “Add an Image” into a post and a screen generally loads with a darkened background and you get the pop-up screen that has the Choose File tab, Gallery, and Media Library… where you can upload photos and handle the images before inserting it into the post? That pop-up window does not pop up at all. It refreshes the entire page and puts it on a white background in the top left hand corner.

I’ve done another update for her blog in case some javascript or some other file got corrupted… I’ve also re-downloaded her NextGen Gallery. Now I’ve tried this with all the plugins turned off entirely. It gives the same result with WordPress alone. I’ve also cleared out uploads/js_cache folder as per Otto’s suggestion in another post with no effect.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I am posting this here as well because this sound very much like what is happening with this girl’s photoblog.

  • If it was opened 6 months ago then it doesn’t seem to be much of a priority to fix. This is obviously effect several people… granted most people are fine… but we’re still important… is there anyway that we can help submit information that might help them solve the problem… may there hasn’t been enough information given to help them understand what the problem is.

I updated some of my plugins and now, instead of the white screen that was coming up when I would add media- like a picture or something, I now get the darkened screen with this warning:

Warning: call_user_func_array(): First argumented is expected to be a valid callback, ‘media_admin_css’ was given in /home/content/p/r/e/preston325/html/fitnessmamablog/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 311

    Any ideas?

perhaps this is just a simple problem but I’m a new geek and am not totally sure of myself yet with the tech stuff. If you have a clue please let me know. It would be so incredibly helpful to me. Thanks.

I still have this very same problem: Adding new media results in _not_ opening a new popup, but rather loading the upload-interface into my existing browser window. The interface is not useable then and I can’t add any media elements. The ticket in Trak seems to be closed, so I fear that nothing is going to happen with this issue.

Has anyone of you found a solution?

WordPress was running without problems for me until I ran into this problem today. I did all of what was recommended in previous threads. And still no results. I’m at a lost. Please help!

I also got this problem! help!

I just came across that same problem. However, in my case, it was a plugin that caused it: WP-Amazon 2.0 Beta 1.1.

@croco2511 Thanks for posting that the problem you had was with the WP-Amazon plugin. I have been struggling with this issue ever since 2.7 was released! It was the same plugin that caused my issue. Deactivated and back to normal.

    Cheers.

I had the same Problem, but did not use the WP-Amazon Plugin.

For me, this was caused by the Plugin Simple Tags. I already wrote to Amaury about this.

Deactivating it did the trick. I suppose some Plugins that hook into the Writing screen in Admin Panel use javascript functions, and perhaps a variable is named the same. Stuff like that. I am not a Javascript master though.

So if you experience problems with the media uploader popup, look for plugins that add functionality to your writing area.

I was having exactly the problem described in the original post. In my case, deactivating WP Campaign Monitor fixed it.

It seems that a range of plugins can cause this. Does anyone know what the common factor might be?
