• I’ve just upgraded to WP3.5 and “Add Media” button on Edit Post screen stopped working.

I can upload and edit pictures in my Media Library and attached them to posts. However I have no way of actually placing any pictures within my post.

    Here it is:
Website switched to Twenty Eleven theme
    ALL plugins deactivated

“Add Media” button works ONCE and only when adding a new post, but it doesn’t work at all when trying to insert a picture in a previously posted article.

I’m not seeing Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve on your site.

Sorry, I keep getting the WP-Super-Cache page.

<!-- Dynamic page generated in 2.102 seconds. -->
    <!-- Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2012-12-12 12:07:13 -->
    <!-- super cache -->

Which is probably a caching issue on my side which may be why I do not see the Twenty Eleven version.

but it doesn’t work at all when trying to insert a picture in a previously posted article.

When you attempt you insert a picture into a previously posted article and it does not work do you get any errors in your webserver’s error_log file? The request should get logged into your web server’s access_log so if there is an error you should be able to line up the time stamp in the log.

Thank you Jan – now we are talking.
I’ll check the log and let you know asap

…You were talking when Esmi was providing support, I was just assisting her and she’s more on point and has better replies then I do…

    To answer you questions:
absolutely nothing happens when I click on “Add Media” button.
I don’t see any new entries in web server’s access_log. I’ve send a request to my webhost just to check if I’m missing anythig.

I’ll switch the website to my regular template for now (at least the phone will stop ringing). Please let me know when you need it in Twenty Eleven theme.

Did you try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress? And if you did, did you ensure that you deleted the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

do you mean to delete (or rename) all folders,
    re-install WP and all plugins?

Looking at the Add Media button, it could be a Javascript issue. Can you try these steps on your browser?

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors

If the Javascript is failing to execute then the error should show up on your browser in the javascript console.

    Thank you Jan,
I’ll look at this, but the problem is not limited only to my computer. I have some contributors reporting the same issue on both PC and MAC

    The same problem.
Brand new website. No plugins. Still in Twenty Eleven theme

Avi Jit, Can you please not cross post threads like that? The one you referring to may not have anything to do with the problem and that one is unresolved too so it’s not really helping here.

From another thread that may have something related as I believe it may be javascript related:

What you are describing is javascript failing in multiple places.

Have you read the master list and tried the steps outlined there?

Have you ever used the “BulletProof Security” plugin at any point, ever?

@tkniat, focusing on the original site, have you used that plugin in the past? I’m asking for informational purposes to attempt to narrow down the possible causes.

What plugin? I had ALL plugins deactivated.

Since then I have the website up and running (sort off). I just can’t afford to have this website down. But all my widgets are gone.

If anybody needs a website for troubleshooting problems related to upgrading to WP3.5 I would focus on https://www.crepealicious.ca

    The same problem.
