• So what gives with this new 3.5 upgrade? It says the new media uploader is so awesome but I can’t upload anything. All I get when I click on add media is nothing…well actually I get a big blank box with a couple links on the left but nothing about uploading. Once in awhile Ill get a small type box in the big empty section that has https:// in it as if Im supposed to know the actual address of my library in wordpress on the fly. the also is a title box just bleow that…

    but no upload capability!

why change things that worked fine?

btw, I have tried the suggested and quote “resolved” comment of deactivating all my plug ins and see if there is a conflict…no help and nothing different…still cant upload into my posts through add media button or any other way for that matter.

    Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

tried changing themes and it did nothing different. and are you telling me that because wordpress fixed something that wasn’t broken I have to delete all my information and start over? seriously?

I also am not that wordpress savvy and have no idea how to go into ftp or anything else to change stuff…I would probably end up dismantling my entire website…ugh

are you telling me that because wordpress fixed something that wasn’t broken I have to delete all my information and start over?

Um – no. WordPress didn’t “do” anything. There’s simply an issue on your site. And re-uploading core files will not wipe out your site. All of your content is stored in your database – not in core files. If you cannot manage the other steps yourself, perhaps you need to consider hiring someone to carry out the work for you?

obviously wordpress updated something that doesn’t work…everything was working fine yesterday until they forced me to update today. so yes I would say wordpress did do something…and also, it shouldn’t be up to me to reboot all my core elements of a previously fine working system because wordpress though they would make something better…which it isn’t because it has caused issues with many users.

I don’t plan on hiring anyone…but I suppose I will have to speak with someone from my hosting company to see if they can assist me with this. Im getting from you that the only way to get the new media upload to work is to delete all my plugins that I use everyday and reload all the word press core files. then hope that after I do that and try to reload my plugins…which by the way are very few and only deal with spam and social networks so I don’t see how they could interfere with wordpresses uploading media capabilities, everything will word wonderfully until the next time wordpress decides to make things better?

I should mention I am only using the headlines theme and nothing crazy and spectacular. Also what does plug ins and themes have to do with the actual dashboard and the add media part of posting? its basically set the same no matter what theme you are using or what plugins you have

spoke with my hosting company and they don’t understand why you are suggesting I upload worddpress all over again due to an update that wordpress created…ive updated twice before with no issues…I think the issue is on wordpress’s end and they need to address it so it’s users are not having issues…add media is not something that should cause a user to have to go through all this to make it work…it should be updated and your actual program should work with the update…

    just my opinion.

does anyone else have this problem or has anyone else fixed it…if so I could use some actual help so I can put pictures and content in my blogs again

they don’t understand why you are suggesting I upload worddpress all over again

With all due respect to your hosts, we probably have a bit more experience with regard to WordPress than they do. ?? For example, it is not unknown for 1 or more core files to be damaged during an upgrade. Hence the suggestion that you re-upload a fresh copy of all core files.

This is all part & parcel of basic WordPress troubleshooting and a process that you do need to go through in order to eliminate the most common causes. Unfortunately, we do not have any magic bullets in these situations.

The issue is nothing to do with WordPress itself but is specific to your site. For example, Add Media works just fine on my 13 sites – as it does on thousands (millions?) of other sites.

This is a related issue…until the upgrade to 3.5, my client would go to a page, click in Insert Media and then be able to view all of the images that had been uploaded.

Now, the only images he can see are the ones that were uploaded to his site yesterday.

    Thoughts?

    esmi…

my apologies…after running through the entire reinstall of wordpress and going through the whole phpadmin deactivation of all my plugins…and still calling no joy, i tried google chrome…and everything was fine…

word to those who were duped into using windows 8 and IE 10….dont!

the problem was with IE10 and it hasnt been the first time that it did this to me!
