I have WordPress installed and operating.
I can create pages and edit them in Visual mode, but the Text tab is there but does not work. The Add Media button is also inoperative.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

    I deactivated all plugins (1)
I only have one theme Twenty Sixteen
My attempt to update it fails.
I specify the hostname as my internet IP address.
    I use FTP Username root
    I enter my root password
I select FTPS(SSL) and press Proceed
It clears my password and states: Failed to connect to FTP Server 70.126.236.126:21

I remove WordPress and reinstalled version 4.5.2 and now everything is working as expected.
