    Hi,
I integrated your plugin and it fits perfectly my needs to provide an easy but efficient posting for my future users (I am building up the site now).
I am using the last versions (wp 4.1.1 and frontier post 3.4.1
I configured everything and all run smoothly except the wellknown Add Media button.

So, I disable all the plugins except Frontier to be sure. I added the code on functions.php as in https://wpfrontier.com/restrict-backend-access-and-access-to-others-media/ (btw evolve theme is used so the file is /wp-content/themes/evolve/functions.php

I double check that the role (contributors in my case) has the Add-media checked. I also checked that the Full Editor is set for everyone.

But still no Add Media button, if it helps the Featured Image is missing too (but I am guessing it’s the same issue).

Could you help me plz? Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    JM

    Hi,
strangly, if I switch to the Author role, the Add Media appears and works but gives access to all the medias (even others users) but still no Featured Image functions.

I don’t if it helps or even makes it more complex to understand but here is the situation.

And by the way the site is https://www.iae-alumni.com/ but registration moderated so no posting without account creation. Send me a note to know which email you will use to try.

    Hi,

Contributers (and subscribers) do not have the standard wordpress capability upload_files, that is why there is no media button, authors have.

If you have implemented the code from https://wpfrontier.com/restrict-backend-access-and-access-to-others-media/ That restrict users access to other media, and authors still have access to other usres media, I suspect authors have the capability edit_others_posts – you can check this under the frontier admin menu (List capabilities).

Have you checked “use featured image” in frontier post general settings ? Then you should see featured image besides category and tags.

If you restrict access to backend featured image upload wont work.

    Hi,

first thanks again for this fantastic addon and also for your quick answers.

I read the Author/Contributor difference in WordPress roles after your message. Thanks for pointing it (sorry but first time I configure WP in such a way, usually only 1 or 2 editors not a whole bunch of users ?? )

Concerning the Set Featured Image, it works now: the option was obviously not set (I remembered clearly the “Does not work perfectly” mention who kept me from checking it).

So, so far, everything is working like a charm.

One additional question: do you have any recommandation on a plugin to make moderation more easier for both admins and users? I mean the admins can accept or move to trash easily but I wish (if I can and not too complicated) to be able to send comments and/or suggestions without typing myself or send them on a separate mail/msg. It will be great if you have a recommandation for that.

    Thanks again for your help.

You can create post from email – see settings/writing in the admin panel

You might be able to find a plugin that does this, but the risk of spam will be high…

Why not use the mobile to comment ?

I am sorry for the confusion. Very bad way to describe my problem…

I certainly do not want any sort of publishing by email. The users will have to log on the site to do so. My users are not so used to blog publishing so I expect lots of moderation on my side at the begining.

As a reviwer (except if I missed a wonderful function), on the backend, my possibilities are :
1- Accept the post like this. Easy
2- I made very few changes but validate is OK.
3- The post/article is too far from the rules of the blog : I refuse the whole article.
4- The post/Article has to be modified before being accepted.

For situation 3 & 4, I wonder if there is another solution rather trash (case 3) or a way to send comments without opening an external tool like the email. The goal is ‘to educate’ users by providing feed back instead of doing the moderation by myself.

And it should be integrated to your plugin for a better efficiency.

I understand what it goes beyond the original purpose of the plugins but I take my chance to ask.

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi,

Makes sense, I will give it some thoughts…..

It might be achiveable with a combination of template forms, custom fields & filters.

I will make this on as resolved for now
