Currently, the only options available are “Relevance”, “Sort by Price: Low – High” and “Sort by Price: High – low”. Is there a way to add a “default/menu order” option? This applies only to the search results page (I have seen many posted related to the shop page)

I have searched high and low and have not found a solution. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

  • Hi!

You’re quite right that ‘Relevance’ is the default here, and it’s not currently possible to change this except with some custom code.

The extension WooCommerce Product Search lets you have fine tuned control of the search results ordering however, using the “search weights” configuration.

I’ll leave the thread open for a bit in case a developer wants to weigh in on a code solution! Or you could hire a developer via our WooCommerce Customizations Page, or for community help elsewhere, try in the WooCommerce Slack Community or the Advanced WooCommerce group on Facebook.

Thank you! I don’t mind “Relevance” being the default on the drop down menu. I was curious if it was possible to add “Menu Order” to the list.

It looks like nobody’s weighed in with any custom solutions for the moment here, so I’d definitely suggest trying the other resources I mentioned if you’re still looking for a way to do this.

I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have any further questions, I recommend creating a new thread. Thank you!
