Add more then 1 featured images to homepage and display as slideshow

ok, i got a solution to 1)
We can use this plugin to add additional featured images –
Multiple Featured Images By Marcus Kober
But now, how do i display it as a slider only on the homepage?

I tried replacing the code with the Smart Slider 3 plugin but the slider becomes responsive and the height is drastically reduced when viewed on a mobile. how do i make it cover the entire height and ignoring the width, stay center aligned.

Would you like to have your images next to each other, like the background images here:

If it is just the first one, you should just simply add the images to your slider, like here on the first 38 seconds:

For the second options you would need the pro version, which has the Showcase:

Then the base of your slider is the Slider size:

which makes your slider to have that ratio at any screen size.

At the responsive options if you don’t want 100% width, then choose Auto responsive mode:

and turn off the “Upscale”. That way your slider will be maximum as wide, as the given “Slider size – Width” is.
Also here you can find a minimum slider height option, what you could use to keep your slider as high as it has to be to cover the whole top part. This could be a little troubling, because it is a fix minimum value and your page is changing, but you should rather try that out, because from our end the option we have is only available in the pro version, which is the Fullpage responsive mode:

That would make your slider as big as your screen is. But the width of that slider type could be limited down too, if the “force fullwidth” would be turned off and you put the shortcode into a limited width div, like:

But I am looking for free options.

To make the slideshow appear only on the home page, you need to work in your child theme’s header file.

Basically you want to check you are on the home page, then call the slideshow.

It must be easy to do since I have done it on a customer’s site.
