Add most recent post to static front page in Twenty Fourteen

  • I just set up a static front page, but I still want to show the latest post on it. My website is https://miriamseidel.com, and I’m using the Twenty Fourteen theme. As you can see, I’ve set up icons with links to my top categories. I would like the most recent post to appear after the icons, if possible.

    I understand I need to insert some code, but am not sure where it needs to go. Can you please help? Thanks.
