When I first downloaded WP, I would add a new post and the screen looks like https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/writing-posts/

Just the last two days, it changed to a different configuration that I don’t know how to get back to the original look. The new look has “Document” and “Block” on the upper right. Can anyone please let me know how I can revert to the original Post Field Description?

  • There was a major update two days ago, to WordPress 5.0. It includes the new ‘block editor’ which is entirely different than the old editor.

You can install the Classic Editor plugin to restore your edit screen to the way it was before this update.

they finally made it, they fuck it up

now I need to install a plugin to add an image?

    Thank you Patty! It worked.

What the? Install a plugin? I hate I no longer have the tool bar, can’t get images alongside the text like I used to. I absolutely hate this new look WordPress.

    Yes.

Just here to add my vomit to the pile regarding this ridiculous new editor now that mine has just updated. I’ll never understand why updates have to be so convoluted and complicated. I wanted to make a quick edit to an old post before work, and had to waste precious time learning how to deal with this stupid new process. A clean, simple, intuitive editor has been “updated” to a frustrating confusing mess that is not at all intuitive and not at all convenient. And to get back to what was there, we’re told we have to install a plugin. Really? A more logic idea would have been to offer a plug in for an update instead.
