Add-on update blues

The add-ons needs to be able to update like the main program or at least show a yellow dot when there is a newer version than the one you have installed on the pmpro-addons page.
I had an out of date copy of Address For Free Levels Add On v .1 and it quietly broke the ability for anyone to get past the checkout page. There were no glaring errors, just a one liner saying to fill all fields when all the fields were filled?
I just so happened to luck out by disabling that add-on first when trying to figure out what was bugging my pmpro. Deleted it and installed the new copy.
