• Hi,

Since updating to 3.3. and updating my SEO yoast plugin, the post name in the url has extra numbers after the trailing slash. e.g.

    https://www.mysite.com/post title/#.TwNA-jWRHNU

Does anyone know why they appear and how to get rid of them?

I have asked Yoast as well, am am waiting on their reply. My SEO settings all appear to be correct.

    With thanks

    Hi again,

Can anyone help? I’ve now found that the Social Media sites I use in order to promote by blog can no longer pick up my site. This has only happened since the recent update.

The extra information – similar to ‘/#.TwNA-jWRHNU’ has now tagged itself on to every page and post on my blog!

It also means that any links created to particular posts/pages are now no longer valid. ??

    I run very few plugins.

    With thanks.

    Hi again,

The permalink on the post and page admin side does not have extra characters. Neither do they appear in the titles on the admin side. This would appear to mean that the plugin Yoast is not at fault, suggesting that it is a problem with the wordpress upgrade.

They only appear on the published side of the post/page.

Is there a place to post this query on the codex side? I looked, but they didn’t seem to have a forum.

Hi again to anyone who might be reading this,

What I’ve found out is that malware got onto my computer through 3 plugins. The most probably reason was that I was not updating wordpress as soon as new updates came out.

I have deleted all 3 plugins and the malware files are no longer there.
However, doing this hasn’t got rid of the extra characters after the post title slash.

Can anyone help? Most of the help I’ve found has been on Google Forums (where there was a long thread relating to a similar problem which occurred 2 years ago) and websites talking about hacking.

The same thing happened to me – not sure what is going on & how this happened but I need to get rid of these trailing numbers…

    Please, anyone, help?
