When you click “Create directory” it asks you to login, but there’s no option to register….

Seems kind of important doesn’t it? It even says you need to register if you haven’t already but there’s no link or button to register..

Sorry, I am not sure what link you are clicking. How and where are you clicking on a “Create directory” link?

Sorry, I was getting confused with another directory plugin that generated that page.

Basically I just have no idea how to use this plugin to allow users to do the following:

    Create an account
    Sign in to account
    Create directory

Maybe that’s not what this plugin is supposed to be used for?

For the “Create an account” and “Sign in to account” step, you can choose to use the core WordPress User registration features or a third party plugin with those features and add more.

Once you have that process/workflow setup. The “Create directory” (I assume you mean the directory entry) step you would need the Link addon, and optionally the Form Addon for Connections. Here are the links:

    I hope this helps!

strange that you need so many add ons just to get core directory functionality.

I’m curious, what does this plugin do without any add ons? Anything?

For reference, I’m using this plugin: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/

and right away, without any add ons or setup, I get a Directory page, with a “sign in” and a “register” link already there. Once you sign in, you can click “create directory”.

That’s kind of what I thought your plugin would do but it doesn’t appear to do anything without several add ons.

RE: I’m curious, what does this plugin do without any add ons? Anything?

It provides a very feature-rich directory for a WordPress site where one can create a business directory or team pages.

RE: For reference, I’m using this plugin: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/

If you are using it and it is meeting your needs. That’s great; it’s a good solution with a different focus in provider its features.

RE: That’s kind of what I thought your plugin would do, but it doesn’t appear to do anything without several add ons.

Connections focus is openness, flexibility without lockin. Many users do not want or even need the ability to register WP Users, provide logins, or allow them to create an entry/listing. They want to create a team page or perhaps a staff directory for a college maintained by the admin. Some users do want these features, so Connections has addons to add those features and more.

Connections is more like legos than a monolith solution. One example is that you can choose to use the core WordPress login/registration features or your favorite alternative. Imagine a situation where you already have your registration and login already setup; Connections Can be slotted right in without disturbing that setup. Using an alternative solution, you might have to remove that setup and then use the solution provided by that plugin.
