Add quicktag to ul list

Hello, this seems like a nice and useful plugin. I was wondering, how would I add quicktag to a ul list inside post?
Lets say I have only one item in a list, if I try to select it and add a quicktag, it would look like this:

<ul>
<span class="..">
<li>Item</li>
</span>
</ul>

Which is not so good. Is there a way? Ty ??
